i have more shots of her more to the left but her elbow was cut (positioning is pretty tricky with prime lenses that dont give you a wide angle of view), so i ended up using this one, instead of giving her a cut-off limb

Actually it's not because of the lens, but because of the viewfinder.
Most dSLR viewfinders only show you 95% - that's one reason I like my camera *giggles*, 100% and it's the brightest.
